12.30pm show: One Jazz Presents Afternoon Jazz At The Chapel: Acclaimed trumpeter Jay Phelps celebrates the vast repertoire and incredible and enduring impact of Jazz’s most enduring star - Miles Davis. A Miles at 100 celebration in the beautiful and intimate surrounds of the Abney Chapel. Another show at 2pm.

Introduction to Abney's Ecology
Abney Park was designated a local nature reserve in 1993, a central London woodland, a place where fungi can flourish on fallen trees and invertebrates find a home. 33 years on, as the climate emergency increases, inevitably the site’s importance and vulnerability increases and the need for support from its local community becomes more vital. Join Abney Park Trust for a walk through the site and an introduction to the site’s delicate and unique ecology.

War Graves tour with Abney Unearthed
Join Abney Unearthed for a tour held in recognition of War Graves Week and VE Day. Learn more about the lives of those who died in service who are buried in Abney Park - including those with Commonwealth War Grave Commission memorial stones and those commemorated on the headstone of their family grave.

Abney Alive
To celebrate 186 years since the foundation stone for the Chapel was laid and the cemetery was opened in May 1840, members of the Tower Theatre will be in the cemetery to bring some of Abney’s amazing residents to life. Once you have picked up a map from the main entrance, stroll around the site - who knows who’ll turn up from the past to tell their story?

On the first Sunday of every month, join Abney Park Trust to explore the newly restored Chapel. On 5 April at 12 noon we will be giving a short talk on Rebecca Jarrett, activist and one time sex worker and how her courage, faith and relationship with the Salvation Army led to a change in Victorian law to protect girls and young women.
Abney Unearthed talk: Harriet Delph room
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Hackney Council, Abney Unearthed is an exciting project to remap the cemetery and discover more about the people buried there. The project manger is giving a talk about the exhibition and to explain why the project is so vital.

The Abney Unearthed project created an exhibition that was hosted by Hackney Archives for Hackney History Month 2025. This is now being displayed in the Harriet Delph room for one day only. Displays include a project overview, plot maps and stories of some of the fascinating figures who lived and worked in Hackney.
Women of Abney film screening and Q+A for International Women's Day 2026

The Tottenham Outrage
On 23rd January 1909, Latvian revolutionaries attempted to steal the payroll wages of factory workers in Tottenham. This resulted in a wild chase across the Hackney Marshes involving hundreds of people. Join Alan Gartrell to hear the story of this extraordinary event.
