Zara McFarlane sings “Sweet Whispers” celebrating the music of Sarah Vaughn.

Superlative UK vocalist Zara McFarlane celebrates the music, the songs and the voice of the great Sarah Vaughn in the beautiful surrounds of the restored Chapel of North London's Abney Park Cemetery. There are only 80 tickets for each of the two shows and we tend to sell out quick! So don't hesitate to be part of this special festival event. The show is presented by the world's first global jazz radio station onejazz.net

Zara McFarlane is a multi-award winning vocalist, songwriter, composer, producer and vocal coach with 5 critically acclaimed albums to her name. Her sound is distinguished by her melding of multiple influences from jazz, reggae, folk, nu-soul and electronica. Her most recent album  Sweet Whispers: Celebrating Sarah Vaughan  honours the jazz great who inspired her on her own artistic journey and whose centenary year was marked in 2024. These special concerts will celebrate the life, work and songs of one of the most wondrous voices of the twentieth century.

As an artist Zara has collaborated with musicians from a range of genres, most notably South African legend Hugh Masekela, Jazz sensation Gregory Porter and featured on house music legend Lil’ Louie Vega’s grammy nominated album “Starring XVIII”. Zara has performed in many prestigious venues and festivals such as Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and North Sea Jazz Festival and continues to tour internationally with her band.

Saturday 22nd of November. Shows at 12.30pm and 2pm.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the concert starts and refreshments will be available. Please note that seating is unreserved, but you can choose to sit in the gallery or on the ground floor. Latecomers will be admitted to the gallery.
Access information: The ground floor of the Chapel is fully accessible, with accessible facilities. There is level access at our High Street entrance and ramp access at the Church Street entrance. The gallery seats have a great view and acoustic but please note that they can only be reached by a steep, narrow spiral staircase. Please contact us in advance at info@abneypark.org to let us know your access needs and we will do our best to accommodate them.
