The Enchanted Cinema - Totoro and Red Turtle

  • Abney Park Trust Stoke Newington High Street London, England, N16 0LH United Kingdom (map)

We are delighted to launch a new collaboration with The Enchanted Cinema in the Delph Room.

Please note: the 28th Sept event at Abney Park has been moved to early 2026 to coincide with the Red Turtle 10th Anniversary Tour.
Please book for 12th October to attend the next event.

On Sunday Sept 28th and Oct 12th, we invite all ages to become a pop-up orchestra with The Enchanted Cinema’s interactive show featuring stunning scenes from The Red Turtle (2016) and our favourite two scenes from My Neighbour Totoro (Catbus & Flying Sequence).

We start with a fun warm-up using our hands and voices before kids and grown-ups team up with instruments – Indian gopichand, South American butterfly charango, turtle drums, lyre harp, zaphir chimes, gong, bird flutes, ocarinas, bamboo canes and more – to create a live score to the Red Turtle's mysterious island followed by Totoro!

11.00 – Red Turtle + Totoro (Interactive Cinema Event – All Ages)

12.15 – join us at the front to try out instruments.

12.30 - end

Please note - we kindly request shoes to be left at entrance.
