International Women's Day: the Women of Abney Park

  • Abney Park Trust Stoke Newington High Street London, England, N16 0LH United Kingdom (map)

This event has been rescheduled to Sunday 27 March at 2pm.

Trailblazers, innovators, renegades... Abney Park is full of them.

To celebrate International Women's Day, we'll be showcasing the cemetery's fabulously feisty women during this walking tour, led by Sam Perrin.

As the cemetery springs to life around you, you’ll learn about the women of Abney Park, including an audacious aeronaut, a pioneering feminist author, a ground-breaking artist, poets, entertainers, suffragettes, and even a Wizard Queen!

The cemetery itself lies on what was once the grounds of Abney House, the estate of Lady Mary Abney, one of the foremost champions of religious dissent.

Starting at the High Street entrance, please meet at the far end of the pedestrian walkway – where the path splits into three.

Please note:
There are no toilet facilities at Abney Park.
Please check your email on the morning of the event, in case inclement weather means we need to cancel.
Please wear sturdy footwear and bring an umbrella (you never know).
Please arrive 5 minutes early for the 2pm start.
