After Dark Bat Night

Did you know that there are at least 18 species of bat in the UK?

Come along to Abney Park Cemetery for a magical night time walk, and to meet some of these bats and learn about their ecology. Some of them are amongst the most protected species in the UK. You can be part of a survey to see exactly which species can be found in this wonderful urban nature reserve.

The informative and myth-busting talk and tour starts at sunset, so be prepared with a torch and sturdy footwear! For health and safety reasons we are limiting numbers to 20 people only, and no children under 7 years old may attend. Early booking is advisable.

We will be meeting at the main gates on Stoke Newington High Street at 7.45pm and expect to finish the walk around 9.30-10.00pm.

Speaker Bio

Your guide for the evening is Charlotte Brennan (also known as Pink Charlotte). She is an ecologist and became a bat specialist after gaining huge respect and love for these mammals while researching the effects of artificial lighting on bats for her BSc. Hons degree back in 2012.

She is also a registered bat carer with the Bat Conservation Trust, taking in and looking after injured and orphaned baby bats in her spare time. Proceeds from the walk will be in part going towards the costs of bat care, with the rest going towards the Abney Park Trust to support the great work that they do in keeping the nature reserve a vibrant and interactive space within the urban environment.
