Sam Perrin's history tour of Abney Park Cemetery:
We are afraid we have had to cancel this tour on account of the tour leader testing positive for Covid-19. All those who bought tickets have been sent an email.
Occurring on the first Sunday of every month and led by historian Sam Perrin, the tour focuses on Abney Park's uniqueness – from its diverse permanent residents to the striking funerary architecture, as well as its historic dual function as both burial ground and arboretum since it opened in 1840.
The "middle child" of London's Magnificent Seven cemeteries, Abney Park has traditionally been the final resting place of choice for rebellious, radical and dissenting Londoners. Our general history tour quietly celebrates that spirit in this wonderful community-focused green space.
The tour will last around 90mins. Please wear suitably sturdy footwear and bring an umbrella (you never know). The tour will begin and end at the main gates on Stoke Newington High Street. From the High St entrance, please meet at the far end of the pedestrian walkway - where the path splits into three.
Speaker bio:

Sometimes, Abney Park closes (or we have to cancel planned events) at short notice due to adverse weather conditions. If events are cancelled or the Park is closed, we'll let you know. Please check your emails and the Abney Park website (abneypark.org) mid-morning on the day of the event to get this info
