Tom Walker

Chair

Tom Walker is the Executive Director of Economy, Investment and Public Health in Essex County Council. He is an experienced public policy professional and senior public sector leader. He has worked across central Government in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry for Housing and Local Government, the Home Office, the Cabinet Office and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Tom brings as Chair of the Trust a number of skills, including a deep understanding of public policy, public finance and local government. As a senior public sector leader he is used to setting direction and getting things done in partnership with others. He has worked on community, regeneration and neighbourhood policy.

Tom has lived in N16 for over twenty years and joined the Board in Autumn 2018 and became Chair in 2020. He has a great passion for Abney Park and thinks it's a place of deep historical significance combined with a local nature reserve and a rare urban peacefulness.
