Do you love Abney Park? Do you have skills you can share? Join the Abney Park Trust as a Trustee

Abney Park is Hackney’s magical urban woodland: a unique and historic graveyard and arboretum dating back almost two centuries. Here at the Abney Park Trust we’re responsible for looking after its heritage, biodiversity and status as a precious community resource.

We are looking for people with ambition and enthusiasm who don’t mind getting stuck in. We are particularly keen to find people with a background in:

  • Nature and Ecology

  • Fundraising

  • History and Heritage

This is a special and significant time for Abney Park. A £5 million National Lottery Heritage Fund project will begin in Summer 2021: run by Hackney Council, this will transform the Park and help protect it for future generations. The Trust is a very active partner in the design and implementation of this project, and we will run many of the activities designed to increase community use.

The attached pack sets out more detail about the Trust, our work and what we are looking for. It also explains the formal role of a Trustee. Most of all, we are looking for enthusiasm and commitment.

We are also looking to make sure our Board is diverse and reflects Hackney’s population. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, faiths and walks of life.

Applying is easy. Just send us a letter (no CV needed) saying why you want to join us – to info@abneypark.org, marked “Trustee Recruitment”. You can send a little video too if you like. The closing date is Friday 4th June 2021.

You can also send questions to the above email address and we will be happy to answer them.

If you are interested in helping but don’t think being a Trustee is right for you, then consider our other volunteering opportunities here.
