The Trades of Abney Park

  • Abney Park Trust Stoke Newington High Street London, England, N16 0LH United Kingdom (map)

Biscuit Tins, School Buses, Wine Gums. These are all things that have their roots at Abney. Join Alan Gartrell to find out some of the trades, sometimes strange sometimes very profitable, of those who are buried at Abney Park Cemetery.

This tour is free, with a suggested £5 donation to help support Abney Park Trust.

About the speaker:

Alan Gartrell has given tours of Abney Park for many years now. His topics cover a huge range from the history of Hackney's MPs to Abney Park's missionary links. He very modestly says he is not a historian, just a few clicks ahead of everyone else on Wikipedia.

The Stoke Newington High St entrance is currently closed. Please use the Church Street entrance, follow the walkway down to the main path and meet by the William Booth grave - near the mausoleum.

The tour will last around 75 mins.
Please arrive 5 minutes early for the 2pm start.
Please wear suitably sturdy footwear.
There are no toilet facilities available.

Please check your emails on the morning of the event - we may need to cancel at short notice if the weather is adverse.
