Join us on Sunday 8th November between 10:15 am and 11:15 am at the War Memorial in Abney Park Cemetery to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.

The event is free and unticketed, so please just join us on the day. We would ask that any dogs who attend the commemoration are on lead.

The ceremony will combine traditional elements of a Remembrance Sunday ceremony, with an address from one of our local Councillors, the laying of wreaths and music from Hackney Songworks and the Morris Folk Choir. At the end of the commemoration, Steve Pretty will play the Last Post.

Set in the beautiful grounds of the cemetery, which is a site of many Commonwealth War Graves, this will be an opportunity to spend time remembering those who lost their lives in conflicts across the world.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,

We will remember them."

Please note:

The Main Path from the High Street Entrance to the Chapel, just in front of the War Memorial, is accessible, although the area immediately around the War Memorial can get muddy.

We may need to cancel at short notice if the weather is inclement. For example, Abney is usually closed if there is a yellow weather warning for wind.
