Abney Park is part of Open House Festival 2024, a London-wide festival that opens up and celebrates the city’s architecture. Join us for Chapel Tours with the architects, Kaner Olette, to hear about the recent restoration of our historic chapel, dating from 1840. Abney Park Trust will also be part of the tours, giving an overview of the history of the building and our plans for future events in the space.
Chapel tours are scheduled for 11am, 12 noon and 1pm. Please reserve your place by visiting the Open House Festival website here. The Chapel will also be open from 2-4pm for people to drop in and view the space, with family arts activities available. Come and try out your own design for our rose windows.
Kaner Olette will also be talking about the sustainability of the new buildings created onsite at 2pm and 3pm in the community room. The architects will be joined by a member of Hackney’s biodiversity team, who will be discussing the installation of the green roof onsite. Free tickets for these talks are available here.
Access information: The ground floor of the Chapel is fully accessible, with accessible facilities. There is level access at our High Street entrance and ramp access at the Church Street entrance. The community room is next to the cafe, and is fully accessible, with accessible facilities. Service dogs welcome in the Chapel for the tours and community room talks. Dogs on leads welcome in the Chapel for our open house 2-4pm.
