Join Nina Lovelace from Hackney Outdoors CIC to learn folk stories and histories associated with trees and plants around Samhain or All Hallow's Eve - which is when many cultures celebrate the move into the 'dark half' of the year.
You’ll hear seasonal folklore stories about Oaks, Birches, Yew trees and more - and then learn how to create a traditional elderberry syrup to ward off colds as we head into winter. This seasonal walk is for adults. Every walk you attend helps Hackney Outdoors to fund its work renaturing local schools for outdoor education.
This is part of our occasional seasonal ‘wheel of the year’ nature walks in which we invite walkers to explore how nature changes at points throughout the year and the stories and folklore associated with the changes. The next walk will be for Winter Solstice.
Please wear sturdy shoes. The meeting point is the Stoke Newington High Street entrance to Abney Park (level access) - there are accessible toilet facilities and baby changing available in the cafe on your right as you enter the gates.
Please note: We may need to cancel at short notice if the weather is inclement - please check your emails on the morning of the walk that you have booked.
