Cllr Reiner Tegtmeyer

I am a German-British resident living since 2007 in Listria Park, sharing the backyard wall with Abney Park Cemetery.

I am a trained teacher and agriculturist. My love for nature and its preservation led me to work, over 18 years, with the London-based NGO Global Witness in its forest team, researching and campaigning against land grabbing and illegal and unethical logging and its impacts on tropical forest communities worldwide.

I am a core member of Abney Park Cemetery’s landscaping team carrying out maintenance work on gravestones and monuments and the Park’s biodiversity, aiming at balancing the two characteristics of this amazing Park, being one of the Seven Magnificent Cemeteries and a unique Nature Reserve.

I am also a member of the Trust's Ecology Sub-Committee.

In the local elections in May 2026, I was elected as a Hackney Green Councillor for Stoke Newington.
