Chair's update: June
Tom Walker, Chair
Once again Abney serves as a massive natural cooling spot and sweet relief in the muggy city. The park opens early in the morning and closes at 8.30pm so is a perfect shady spot during these long hot days.
The highlight in the last few weeks has been a sneak preview of the inside of the chapel. There is obviously still a fair amount of work to do but the project is in its closing stages. (Some pictures are shared with this note to give a sense of how it is shaping up.)
At the Trust we have run a couple of really excellent events. We had an absolutely brilliant botanical drawing class, and a couple of bird walks including the dawn chorus.
We will shortly put a formal call out for people who want to collaborate with us in the new spaces. Ecologists; writers; artists; musicians; historians. If you have an idea please get in touch.
We have been busy recruiting for our new events manager. We've had some fantastic applications and hope to be able to make an appointment soon. Then we will be ready for the reopening and able to once again do a full range of activities and events.
