Your donation can help us to achieve the following
We do not receive core funding from the London Borough of Hackney, and this means that your donations are essential to keeping the charity running. We rely on our unpaid trustees and other volunteers to do lots of our work; this means we can stretch anything you give us a long way. But we do need to pay staff and cover other costs so we can offer the services and activities that help to bring Abney’s heritage, ecology and community to life.
For example, your donations can help us
to provide support to family members or friends who want to find the grave of a loved one buried in the cemetery
promote the unique and precious ecology of Abney so that more people understand its extraordinary value; nationally and for Hackney
open the chapel so that local school children and others can visit the and learn about this beautiful and historic building
clean and maintain graves and raise additional funds so that the site’s listed monuments can be looked after
tell the stories of the remarkable people who chose the cemetery as their final resting place - those who history remembers and those it would otherwise forget
open the Harriet Delph community room to events that bring our communities together, to celebrate the radical traditions that laid the foundations of Abney Park Cemetery and continue those radical traditions; both now and into the future
