Could you be Abney Park Trust's next Treasurer?

The Abney Park Trust is about to enter an exciting new phase and we are looking for a new Treasurer to help us grow.

The next two years are going to be a really exciting time for the Grade II listed park.

The current restoration project will complete in spring 2023 – and, alongside the Trust's current role to promote the history and ecology of Abney Park, we will be delivering a new set of activities as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund programme.

There’s dedicated funding for this, and it will sit alongside our core grants, community donations and income from events and sales. With an annual £60,000 budget and 1.5 FTE staff we are a small organisation.

Juggling the money and finding creative ways to do things is part of the fun of running a small charity and being deeply involved in the local community. After two years of Covid and physical disruption in the park it is a really exciting chance to be part of a community-based team working in one of Hackney's most treasured public spaces.

The role does not require any special financial knowledge. Numeracy and a willingness to learn and a commitment to community action are the keys.
