Hejira have won huge acclaim in recent years for their celebration of the music of Joni Mitchell. In this special duo concert guitarist Pete Oxley and vocalist Hattie Whitehead explore the jazz side of Joni’s classic albums with a focus on the golden era of the late 70s when Joni worked extensively with the crème de la crème of US jazz musicians.
This gig is the second in a series presented by radio station One Jazz, in partnership with Abney Park Trust, at a unique venue - a beautifully restored chapel in the heart of Stoke Newington’s Abney Park. This event is part of the London Jazz Festival 2024. Due to popular demand, there will be two performances over the afternoon. Doors will open 30 mins before each concert starts for a prompt start at either 12 noon or 2pm, with refreshments available. Please note that seating is unreserved.
Access information: The ground floor of the Chapel is fully accessible, with accessible facilities. There is level access at our High Street entrance and ramp access at the Church Street entrance. The gallery seats have a great view and acoustic but please note that they can only be reached by a steep, narrow spiral staircase. Please contact us in advance at info@abneypark.org to let us know your access needs and we will do our best to accommodate them.
