Yasminah Beebeejaun

Yasminah Beebeejaun is professor of urban politics and planning at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. Her research focuses on public inclusion in urban space and planning policy, particularly in relation to multi-ethnic neighbourhoods. She has conducted extensive research in the UK and Europe on the role of cemeteries in urban space. Her findings have been used by policymakers in urban planning and cemetery and crematoria management.
Yasminah has lived in Stoke Newington since 2013 and has been a regular visitor to Abney Park Cemetery. She joined as a trustee in 2024 and looks forward to working with the Board and staff working to safeguarding Abney as a unique ecological and heritage site that is open to all the community to enjoy.
