Abney Park Trust approves annual accounts and celebrates “a strong year"
The registered charity responsible for looking after the history and nature of Abney Park has approved its annual report and accounts at its Annual General Meeting.
The Abney Park Trust welcomed lots of attendees from across the local community and further afield at the meeting, which took place on 24th November 2021.
Formal governance
The Trust produces independently audited accounts and an annual report as part of its formal governance.
Each year, these are approved formally at the Trust’s Annual General Meeting. Following approval at November’s meeting, these will now be filed with the Charity Commission.
The year in review
This year the Trust reviewed the financial year 2020/2021 (up until 31st March 2021).
It also provided an update on many of the exciting developments in Abney Park over the last few months.
These included the return of a comprehensive in-person event programme, and the ongoing progress of the National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported restoration work.
The Trust also offered an update on Hackney Council's Abney Unearthed project, which is mapping the historic burials in the Park and uncovering fascinating stories.
Tom Walker, Chair of the Abney Park Trust, said: “The last financial year brought a set of challenges to the Trust’s door due to the arrival of the pandemic.”
“But as these accounts and annual report show, the Trust has had a strong year.”
“This is down in large part to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, who have adapted in the face of adversity to continue the Trust’s important work looking after this magical urban woodland.”
