Chair's update: February

Tom Walker, Chair

The highlight last month was Russell Miller's New Year's Day Tree Walk which attracted a great turn out. Russell is a true expert on Abney's ecology - and our website has previous talks about the park and a self guided walk too.

The Trust is currently recruiting a new manager and we hope to be able to announce that appointment soon. January is typically a quieter month but our events are going well – and the Tottenham Outrage event with Alan Gartrell sold out quickly.

Our volunteering carries on with details below about the opportunities. Volunteering with us is a great opportunity to do something good outdoors. Lynn Dennison, our videographer, can be seen in the image on the right filming Abney Park on a cold January day. (She's looking to interview couples who met or had their first dates in the park. Is that you? Email us.)

The park restoration work continues with the pilings taking place - it really is a building site right now at the High Street entrance but the project is taking shape.

Look out for events as we ramp up again – and fingers crossed for a sprinkling of snow once more.

And don't forget that the High Street entrance to the park will be closed as part of the restoration work from this coming Tuesday (8th February) until 18th February. To keep up to date with the latest timings, just head to our website or Twitter page. And find out more about the restoration work at our microsite here.
