Virtual Dawn Chorus

Spring has sprung once again in Abney Park and with that comes the mellifluous tones of the dawn chorus bird song. Abney Park Trust is very excited to be streaming a video made in collaboration with Historic England. During March, Keyline Productions came into Abney in the early hours of the morning and recorded bird expert Andrew Peel as he walked along the pathways identifying and describing the birds that could be heard.

Abney is the only mature mixed woodland in north Hackney and is one of the finest in central London. The diversity and abundance of plants and trees combined with relatively sympathetic management means the cemetery is of great value to birdlife, hosting a wide range of breeding, wintering and migratory species.

Abney Park Trust keeps a Bird Sighting Log. If you see any birds not mentioned on the log, please email with the date and type at info@abneypark.org
