As a part of Black History Month, everyone is invited to a heritage walk to the resting place of Joanna Vassa, wife of Henry Bromley, and daughter of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, The African, best-selling author and abolitionist. The event also celebrates the 230th anniversary of his book, The Interesting Narrative, which was published in 1789, and which is included in the top 100 non-fiction books of all times (The Guardian Newspaper, 31st December 2017). Arthur Torrington is Director of The Equiano Society.
