Great British Bee Count

Sadly, our bumblebees have been declining because of changes in agricultural practices that have largely removed flowers from the landscape, leaving the bumblebees with little to feed upon. Most UK species have declined greatly in recent years, and two have become extinct in the UK since 1940.

As a natural oasis in zone 2 urban London, Abney Park is host to several species of bees.

The inaugural Stoke Newington Naturalists event. Come and spot bees Abney Park, as part of the Great British Bee Count - greatbritishbeecount.co.uk. Download the app (search Great British Bee Count) beforehand if you like. No bee spotting or ID expertise needed.
