Hackney Council is around 70 per cent through the process of improving the network of paths at Abney Park. Larger paths are going to have the mud scraped off them before being re-laid. Smaller paths will continue to be woodchipped over the winter. This work is ongoing and will be mostly carried out by volunteers. In normal weather the new paths harden up in around 10 days, however we have found that the recent dry weather has meant they are taking longer to bed in. Please be assured that the paths will harden up in a week or two and will not always be so dusty.
Work is continuing on the chapel at Abney Park. The company undertaking the work – Universal Stone – has made an interesting discovery. The chapel actually has two spires – an internal structure, complete with windows, is encased by a larger spire, the one you can see.
